We are currently looking for a Director of Children’s Ministry

Start: Winter 2022

Lino Lakes Community Church (Gethsemane UMC) is seeking a Director of Children’s Ministry to lead Sunday School each week during our 9:30a worship service (10:30a upon new service launch). LLCC is a new faith expression planted in Lino Lakes to reach unchurched folks. We believe that in order to meet the needs of our community, we need to build our church plant around good teaching, authentic worship, and children’s ministry. A candidate applying for this position should be excited by the idea of growing a children’s ministry and be adaptive to a changing ministry plant.


  • Lead, develop, and grow Children’s program (Pre-K through 5th grade) during our Sunday 9:30a worship service (10:30a upon new service launch)
  • Uphold a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for children and their families
  • Manage nursery care for Sunday mornings and special events
  • Utilize engaging curriculum that aligns with the mission of the United Methodist Church
  • Participate in weekly staff meeting
  • Engage families and encourage their involvement in the church community
  • Collaborate with Pastor and Staff to plan special events and creative methods of engagement
  • Foster multi-generational involvement
  • Communicate with the congregation about program activities and accomplishments
  • Adhere to and ensure volunteer adherence to the church’s Safe Sanctuary policy


  • Flexibility — able to adapt to a changing environment as the needs of the church change during a new church plant
  • Organization — able to manage multiple types of community needs from working with volunteers, organizing events, and participating in community outreach
  • Creativity — able to develop innovative ways of teaching and engaging children utilizing different learning styles and age-appropriate materials
  • Communication — comfortable using all forms of communication (verbal, email, text, social media, etc) to maintain connection and engagement from families, volunteers and staff
  • Relationship Management — able to build and maintain positive relationships and foster lasting connections with families and all congregants
  • Collaboration — actively seeks out input and expertise of fellow staff, lay leaders, and families to ensure programming is meeting the needs of the children


  • Background in children’s ministry or education or equivalent studies.
  • Children’s ministry or childcare experience
  • Proficient in the use of technology for teaching (i.e. video, audio equipment) and for communication (newsletter participation, email, texting, etc)
  • Christian faith and respect for the United Methodist tradition

Position Type:

  • Part-Time // 15-20 hours per week


  • Salary – $20 per hour
